Restaurant Weidachstube Review in Leutasch Near Seefeld

Introduction: A Perfect First Night in Leutasch

There is something instantly grounding about arriving in the Austrian Alps. Crisp mountain air. Snow edged roads. A slower pace of life that sets in almost immediately. On our first evening staying at the Krystall Hotel in Leutasch we wanted a relaxed but memorable dinner. Somewhere local. Somewhere warm. Somewhere that would set the tone for the rest of our stay.

Like many travellers we turned to ChatGPT and asked a simple question. What are the three best restaurants in the area. The town itself is Leutasch although it sits just north of Seefeld around an eight minute drive away. ChatGPT gave us three options ranging from ten to twenty five minutes away. As it was our first night and we had already popped to the supermarket to stock up on wine and nibbles for the week we opted for the closest restaurant.

That decision led us to Restaurant Weidachstube Neuner GmbH, and honestly it could not have been a better choice.

Arrival and Check In Experience

We arrived just after 6pm which is peak dining time in Austria especially during winter. The restaurant was already busy with a lively mix of locals and visitors which is always reassuring.

From the moment we walked through the door we were greeted with big smiles and a warm hello from the front of house team. Despite how busy it was they immediately made us feel welcome and relaxed. There was no rushing. No sense of inconvenience. Just genuine friendly hospitality.

The interior is classic alpine. Warm wood tones soft lighting and a cosy welcoming atmosphere without feeling dated or touristy. Daisy was also made a fuss of straight away which instantly made us feel even more at home.

Atmosphere and Ambience

Restaurant Weidachstube Neuner GmbH manages to strike that perfect balance between lively and intimate. There is a real buzz in the room but it never feels loud or overwhelming. Conversations hum gently and the energy feels warm and joyful.

One of my favourite details was being able to see into the kitchen. Watching the team cook and work together added to the feeling that this is a family run restaurant where pride and care go into every dish. It felt authentic and reassuring.

This is clearly a place locals return to again and again and visitors quickly understand why.

Drinks and Wine Selection

We started with a glass of rosé each. Having learnt from previous evenings we asked to see the wine first. Alpine rosé can sometimes be darker and heavier than our taste.

This one was perfect. Pale in colour crisp refreshing and beautifully balanced. Exactly what we wanted. We ordered two glasses without hesitation and settled into the evening.

The wine list is varied and thoughtfully curated with a good mix of Austrian and international options. Staff are more than happy to offer recommendations which is always appreciated.

The Menu: Extensive and Impressive

The menu is extensive. Meat dishes fish pizza pasta traditional Austrian classics and plenty of choice for different tastes. At first glance it can feel a little overwhelming simply because there is so much to choose from.

This is where great service really makes a difference and our waitress Stasha was fantastic. Friendly knowledgeable and genuinely welcoming she talked us through the menu and offered thoughtful recommendations rather than simply pointing to popular dishes.

Starters: Skipped but Well Thought Out

Starter options included snails trout soups and other traditional dishes. While beautifully presented none quite appealed to us that evening and we were already a little souped out from earlier meals on the trip. We decided to skip starters and go straight for mains.

If you enjoy traditional Alpine starters though there is plenty to explore here.

Main Courses: The Highlight of the Evening

Based on Stasha’s recommendation Pam ordered the mixed grill which included pork chicken steak and a traditional Austrian sausage served with fries and salad. A generous comforting plate that looked incredible as it arrived.

I opted for the stag fillet cooked medium rare and it was easily one of the standout dishes of our entire stay.

Stag Fillet with Mushroom Sauce Croquettes and Cranberry Sauce

The stag fillet was served with golden croquettes a rich mushroom sauce and a side serving of cranberry sauce. The meat was beautifully tender and full of flavour. The kind that melts in your mouth with every bite. The mushroom sauce added depth and richness without overpowering the dish while the cranberry sauce brought a subtle sweetness that cut through the game perfectly.

The croquettes were crisp on the outside fluffy on the inside and completely addictive. Perfectly cooked and full of flavour in their own right. The dish was also served with vegetables which added balance and freshness. It was a beautifully thought out plate and an absolute highlight.

The Mixed Grill Surprise

Pam’s mixed grill was equally impressive. The chicken in particular stood out. Normally chicken can be dry or forgettable but this was moist succulent and full of flavour. Pam insisted I try it and she was absolutely right.

The fries were perfectly cooked and the salad was fresh and light providing a great contrast to the hearty meats. Plates were cleared almost entirely which says everything.

Desserts: Always Worth Saving Room For

Despite being very full Pam was still very much up for dessert. The dessert menu makes it almost impossible to say no.

Pam chose the crème brûlée and I opted for the chocolate pancake. The crème brûlée had that perfect crack on top with a smooth creamy centre that was rich without being heavy. The chocolate pancake was indulgent warm and comforting. Exactly what you want on a winter evening in the Alps.

Another glass of rosé accompanied dessert and rounded off the meal perfectly.

Service and Hospitality

What truly elevates Restaurant Weidachstube Neuner GmbH is the service. From start to finish every interaction felt genuine and warm.

Stasha was exceptional. Attentive without hovering knowledgeable without being pretentious and friendly without ever feeling forced. The whole team worked seamlessly together and it was clear this is a place where people enjoy what they do.

The atmosphere felt like a community rather than just a restaurant.

Booking Christmas Day Before We Even Left

The evening was so good that before dessert had even finished we asked if we could return for Christmas Day dinner. In Austria Christmas is traditionally celebrated on Christmas Eve so this was not an unusual request and they were happy to accommodate us with a 7.30pm booking.

We left already looking forward to returning which is always the ultimate compliment.
